Dr. Ammar AlKashmiri

Dr. Ammar practices both emergency medicine and sport medicine in the Sultanate of Oman. He completed his residency training in Emergency Medicine in 2005 and fellowship training in Sport Medicine in 2007 both at McGill University in Canada. He obtained his American Board of Emergency Medicine certification in 2007 and became a Fellow of the American College of Emergency Physicians in 2012.

He is currently practicing as a senior consultant physician and director at the Emergency department in Khoula hospital, the national trauma and stroke center in Oman.

In addition to his active clinical work, he is involved in various administrative activities. He chairs the hospital Research Ethics committee and is a member of several other hospital and national committees.

 

Dr. Ammar is involved in both undergraduate and postgraduate education. He is a senior clinical lecturer affiliated with the College of Medicine and Health Sciences at Sultan Qaboos University. He is also a faculty trainer in the Oman Medical Specialty Board (OMSB) Emergency Medicine ACGME-I accredited training program and chairman of the OMSB Accreditation committee for postgraduate training programs. He also chairs the hospital’s Postgraduate Medical Education committee.

He is a frequent speaker at national and international meetings.

He is an active researcher and has more than 30 publications in peer-reviewed journals. He is also an Associate Editor for Sultan Qaboos University Medical Journal (SQUMJ) and a reviewer for several other journals.

Dr. Ammar is currently representing Oman as the General Secretary of the Gulf Federation of Emergency Medicine.
